RE: 4
That was a great post, Raphael! I am glad I found this forum.
The Pythagoreans taught that there were four parts to the soul, they did consider four to be a perfect number. In the western culture four is an auspicious number.

The opposite is true in Asia. In Asia four is considered to be very unlucky. So I guess it all depends on what culture you associate with.

glad you liked it.
4 is an important number in psychology too, especially when you have your world turned upside down.
LIKE IN A 'FLOOD/Deluge' or even a nervous breakdown.
When you 'surface' you immediately re-orient yourself to the 4 directions and ask yourself where are the life-giving SUN and the time-conscious MOON.
EXPLAINS why ALL cultures reference the 4 directions.

In these Asian countries 8 is good luck.
And in these Asian countries that believe 8 is good luck they usually have two swastikas.
CW and CCW rotating

4 + 4 = 8

creation + destruction = 8 = universal balance

4 might be considered bad luck in these OLDER cultures because it represents only 1/2 the equation?

Older cultures like Sumeria used the swastika to represent both the SUN and the MOON. (swastika = moon is NOT well known)
Thus good luck involves a formula containing both the SUN and the MOON.

To operate using only the MOON or the SUN, ignoring the role both play could be considered bad luck?

Are Christians sun/solar worshipers or Moonies? Wink
