God thinks song
i found this rather interesting and humourous if insulting to some

God Thinks by Voltaire

God thinks all blacks are obsolete farm equipment
God thinks the Jews killed his son and must be punished
God thinks the white man is Satan
God, they know what God thinks

God thinks we should all convert to Judaism
God thinks we must all be Christians and
God thinks we should all embrace Islam
God thinks the only true religion is Hinduism

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're a waste of flesh
God prefers an Atheist

God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
and using His name for your own protection

God thinks the sun revolves around the Earth
God thinks there was something very wrong with Copernicus
God thinks abortion is murder and
God thinks everything that science gave us is wrong
God thinks women deserve it
God thinks AIDS is a form of punishment

I hate people who blame the Devil for their own shortcomings and
I hate people who thank God when things go right

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're an idiot
God prefers a heretic

God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw the stone
and using His name for your own agenda

God is a liberal
God is a democrat
God wants you to vote republican
never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god
and says it's absolute truth
its lies and it smells like death
its all in a day's work taking money from the poor
Why do you think that God would need your dirty money
if he want to start a holy war?

self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
and using His name for your own protection

God thinks puppies need to die and
God thinks babies need to drown
'cause God is neither good nor bad
God is you and me
God is Everything

"Perhaps you've seen them only then you've just believed
And when they're fleeing then you feel you've been deceived
But in that feeling something ancient's been retrieved"

RE: God thinks song
Actually Hitler was raised Catholic and believed in God and the Bible. Stalin grew up poor in a town with gangs and fights. He was not only exposed to Christianity but he was given a scholarship to a seminary - where he was expelled shortly before finals for being unable to pay for tuition. I can't say I know too many people who could have faith in a religion that got rid of them for something beyond their control.

Quote:Actually Hitler was raised Catholic and believed in God and the Bible.
-emphasis my own-

Dubious. Hitler was whatever suited his agenda at the moment, because he was more interested in subverting religion than submitting to it. He was raised Catholic, yet never once attended a mass or recieved any sacrament after leaving his parents, and often expressed his dislike and criticism of traditional orthodox Christianity. He adopted Protestant ideas when he decided that the Catholic Church was too friendly with the Jews, and yet never went to church there either. He is known to have expressed that he wished he himself and Germans in general would have been Muslim because he thought they would have had a better military, because Christianity was too flabby and meek.

And yet he managed to kill people from all those groups and systematically undermine those established religions, and eventually abandoned organized religion altogether.

Getting kicked out of seminary hardly equates to being kicked out of a religion; it doesn't even justify leaving the religion, much less subsequently turning around and attacking that religion and its people.

Those people were evil. They abused various belief systems in order to gain power. The belief systems themselves are not related in any meaningful way.

Quote:God Thinks by Voltaire

Yeah, I've seen that somewhere before. A bit nonsensical, and I don't agree with all of it, but its got a good point.

If you should see evident sins or defects, draw out of those thorns the rose; perceiving, moreover, that such apparent sinners may frequently have a good intention, for no one can judge the secrets of the heart of man.

RE: God thinks song
Ah, Voltaire. One of my favorite counter-culture musicians, and the only goth musician I know of to rock out on acoustic guitar. "The Man Upstairs" and "I'm Going To Hell" are other good religious songs of his, though I think "Irresponsible" is my favorite song he sings.

RE: God thinks song
Hi,
I am going to post one more God Song.
Hope everybody like it.

Great God

God is a God of righteousness
God sits on the throne
God is strong in battle
God is God alone
God wise and merciful
God is soverign Lord
God is pure and holy
God reigns forevermore

He's a great God, a righteous King
Ruler over everything
He's a great God, we will proclaim
Honor and glory to his name
God holds up the universe
God sustains the soul
God exalts and God puts down
God is in control
God's glory is eternal
God is love and peace
God knows all, sees all, is all
God is to be praised

Blessing and glory and wisdom
Thanksgiving and honor and power and might
Be to our God forever and ever

And all the saints said
Holy...Holy
Holy...Holy
Holy...Holy
Is, His, Name
Great God, great God

RE: God thinks song
Oh, are we resurrecting this thread? Well here's "The Here And Now" by Tom Smith.

God made the world, so they say,
And he did it in only seven days,
But they can't tell you if those days were short... or... long,
And they think their God is threatened if the dates... are... wrong.

God made Adam, God made Eve,
Kicked 'em out of Eden 'cause they were deceived (hiss that snake),
They had children, one was good... one... scum,
Cain killed Abel, then got married -- where'd his wife... come... from?

There's all those little problems where the story doesn't jibe,
If God created all of us, why single out one tribe?
Why weren't there any dinosaurs on Noah's floating zoo?
Why tell us all these fairy tales when we've got stuff to do?

We've got the world (we've got the world), the here and now (the here and now),
Things happen, it's only natural to ask how (ask... how)
But there's no reason to trust mytho...lo...gy,
The world right here and now's enough for me.

God made Commandments, God made rules,
God said "to build a better life, these are the tools",
He said the first four... are to wor...ship... me,
If you don't, you will be tortured for eter...ni...ty.

But what if this world is all there is,
What if, when you die, there ain't no final quiz,
No hell or heaven? Well, that's all right... with... me...
We'll make it heaven here on earth, just wait... and... see.

Why punish us forever for an arbitrary rule?
Why set us up for failure? Does God have to be so cruel?
Why give us all these instincts for committing mortal sins?
Why give us all these ways to lose before the game begins?

We've got the world (we've got the world), the here and now (the here and now),
There may be nothing, al-Akhirah, or the Tao (eternal Tao)
But I've got present responsibi...li...ty,
The world right here and now's enough for me.

We've got the world (we've got the world), the here and now (the here and now),
And you know we're gonna make it somehow (some... how)
But I ain't countin' on eter...ni...ty,
The world right here and now's enough for me.

There may be God, and there may not
The world we're livin' in might just be all we've got
That ain't no problem, 'cause, whether spawned... or... made,
The only way to live is not to be... a...fraid.

We've got our minds, we've got our hearts,
We've got our souls and they're the most important parts,
We don't need threatenin' to tell what's right... from... wrong
Just mind your business, clean things up, and get a... long.

The world is filled with wonderment and beauty near and far,
And trying to understand it is just being who we are,
If there's a God, he told us that the world he made was ours,
We're almost done exploring here, the next stop is the stars.

We've got the world (we've got the world), the here and now (the here and now),
And we're gonna reach the heavens somehow (some... how)
It's up to us to fulfill our des...ti...ny,
The world right here and now's enough for me (enough for me).

We've got the world (we've got the world), the here and now (the here and now),
And you know we're gonna make it somehow (some... how)
Find God within you -- the rest comes na...tura...lly,
The world right here and now's enough for me.
I say, the world right here and now's enough for me.
That's right, the world right here and now's enough for me.
Ohhhhh... yeahhhh!

I'm back baby! Thanks for everyone who sent me PMs asking what had happened to me.
