Matthew 6:19-21
"Stop storing up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But keep on storing up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal because where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

What are you peoples' thoughts on this?

RE: Matthew 6:19-21
Isn't that sort of the same thing as, "Seek first the kingdom of heaven"?

I thought that this thread was asking MY question!? Anyway, it is that exactly. But the seeking is not a search without, but within.

That is a good way to find your own ego, but it is not guaranteed to find you a great deal more. At least not unless it is regulated by some external constraints, able to introduce an element of objectivity. In a Christian understanding, seeking God means obedience to his will.

Unless it is an allusion to something like the Jungian Self, I am not sure I understand the question.

RE: Matthew 6:19-21
It means that material items are nothing compared to Heaven. By stating, "Stop storing up treasures for yourselves on earth", He means to stop being so greedy and so possessive over what you have now, and by "But keep on storing up treasures for yourselves in heaven", He means be a better person, don't be sinful.
