"Noah's Ark" Found
Turkish and Chinese archeologists (admittedly evangelical Christians) claim to have found Noah's Ark on Mount Ararat in Turkey. They also claim it can be dated to 4,800 years ago.

It has been my opinion that, if the flood story has any grounding in reality, that it is a story of a regional flood of the Black and/or Caspian seas. After all, for the people writing the story after the fact, it might have seemed as though the entire world were flooded.

Prepare yourselves for the inevitable onslaught of fundies claiming this find as proof of God's existence and the Bible as a historical document.

If truth is one, it is not possible for something to be scientifically false and religiously true.

Or, more likely in my opinion, the Tigris and Euphrates.

Isn't it amazing that every ancient civilization living in a flood plain has myths of world-wide floods? Actually it's not amazing at all. What would be amazing would be to find a high-altitude ancient civilization with a flood-myth. Now THAT would be interesting. Trouble is that most ancient civilizations were oriented near lowlands and rivers, so flood myths are ubiquitous.

At any rate, doesn't this "Noah's Ark found on Mt. Ararat" story come around regularly every ten years or so? I seem to recall it back in the seventies when I was in high school. I suspect it has been thoroughly debunked by now, but like the Shroud of Turin, the true believers refuse to let facts get in the way of their beliefs.

Also I suggest reading the Epic of Gilgamesh and Atrahasis...
In John Collins book A Short Introduction to the Hebrew Bible he gives a timeline as found in the, lets call it, common Bible.
Creation-4,000 BCE
Flood-2,400 BCE
Abraham-2,100 BCE
ect.
So the entire world was covered in water in 2,400 BCE? Don't tell the Egyptians that because the Great Pyramids were built in 2,500 BCE and their civilization went on without missing a beat for over 1000 years...
Draw your own conclusions...

Also I suggest reading the Epic of Gilgamesh and Atrahasis...
