Pilate’s wife dreamed to save Jesus…

Pilate’s wife dreamed to save Jesus…
… was it from the holy spirit or from the devil?
It appears that God tried to save Jesus from the crucifixion, but failed.
My opinion.
Matthew 27:19 - “When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.”

Why wouldn't God give the dream to Pilate?

Who says God didn't give the dream to Pilate? Just because it isn't recorded doesn't mean it didn't happen.

But anyway, Pilate knew Jesus was innocent; he didn't need a dream to tell him that.

According to the Bible, Jesus came to suffer the consequences of human sin, and this was all according to God's plan.

Well, it's a drama plagued with choreographic holes. Why on earth refer to that dream if it had no bearing on the judgement?!...
It is supposed to be inspired scripture!!...
Something fired off badly.
You believe God could have given Pilate a similar dream that is not referred in the text, fine.
I believe Pilate also received a vision telling him the moon was a big lump of French cheese Roquefort!...

That would depend on what the main point of the drama is. For me, the dream simply adds to the general idea that "the powers that be" had every reason to know that Jesus was innocent--both on legal grounds and on other intangible grounds--and that the decision to have him executed was based on Pilate's fecklessness rather than on reason or law.
