Exclamation Prize For Evolution Compettition Increased To 100,000 YTL!
THE PRIZE OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMPETITION
“WHY IS THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION INVALID?”
IS INCREASED TO 100,000 YTL!

• The competitors of the competition “Why Is the Theory of Evolution Invalid?” held by Science Research Foundation had some righteous demands, stating that given the too many dilemmas of Darwinism, 15 pages is too short for their essays and that the time is inadequate.

• Upon these requests, some changes have been made on the rules of the competition and the GREAT PRIZE IS INCREASED. Entries which will be hand-written on A4 paper will NOT EXCEED 60 PAGES IN LENGTH AND NOT BE LESS THAN 30 PAGES.

• The competition will include two stages. In this first stage of the competition, the prize of the winning contestant is increased to 25,000 YTL. Therunner-up will receive 15,000 YTL and the third prize-winning contestant will receive 10,000 YTL.

• In the second stage of the competition, the winning contestant will receive a prize of 100,000 YTL, the runner-up 50,000 YTL and the third prize-winning contestant 25,000 YTL.

• In the first stage of the competition, contestants will send to our foundation their essays containing comprehensive and convincing information on the subject of all the Darwinist dilemmas that prove the invalidity of evolution, of the kind summarized below. The first 1000 entries received will be considered.

• The contestants will send their theses to the following address of the foundation by mail: Cakıraga mah. Katip Müslihittin sok. Saglam İshanı No.3 D.12-13 Aksaray/İstanbul. The last day to receive the essays is extended until 18 October 2009.

• In the second stage of the contest, the scientific essays reaching our foundation will be evaluated by academicians who are experts on the subject and 100 contestants will be entitled to take part in the final.

• The final competition will be held on 6 December 2009, Sunday at a location which will be announced later with the participation of the 100 contestants that are selected by the jury. The contestants will be asked to answer a test consisting of 80 questions.

• The winners will receive their checks at an award ceremony on 28 December 2009.

• The purpose of this competition is to raise young people’s awareness of Darwinism, which has inflicted immense damage on mankind and to put them on their guard against this terrible fraud in science.

SOME DILEMMAS FACING THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION

(1) Life cannot emerge by chance...
Proteins are complex molecules that both constitute the building blocks of living cells and also perform very important tasks within the cell. The odds that an average protein molecule forms by chance have been calculated as “1 in 10950, a figure that far exceeds human imagination. In mathematical terms, this figure represents a probability of “zero.”

(2) There is not a single intermediate fossil…Although some 100 million fossils belonging to 250,000 separate species have to date been unearthed, not one supports Darwinism. All the fossils discovered belong to fully formed and complete life forms. However, if evolutionists’ claims were true then a great many out of so many fossils should belong to “intermediate life forms,” but not a single one actually does.

(3) “Living fossils” are a response to evolutionary myths...
Living fossils are proofs that refute the theory of evolution’s claim of “gradual development” in a particularly striking way. The reason why these are known as “living fossils” is that despite being hundreds of millions of years old, they are identical to specimens living today. There are living fossils belonging to a great many species, from ants to trees, and from bats to sharks. This represents definitive documentation that evolution never happened in natural history.

(4) The unimaginable information in DNA…
The information regarding all a person’s characteristics, from their physical appearance to the structure of their internal organs, is recorded in a special coding system inside DNA. If we were to put down this genetic information in DNA on paper, we would have to construct a giant library of 900 volumes containing 500 pages each. This unimaginable quantity of information is encoded in the parts of DNA known as “genes.” It is an absolute fact that DNA cannot form by chance.

(5) Organs with irreducible complexity...
Irreducible complexity is a feature that invalidates the claim of gradual development lying at the heart of the theory of evolution. For example, eyes and wings possess irreducible complexity. It is impossible for the structures such as the tear gland, retina and iris, that together comprise the eye, to come into being individually in stages. That is because sight will only take place when all the components making up the eye are present and fully formed. The same thing applies to the wing.

RE: Prize For Evolution Compettition Increased To 100,000 YTL!
(1) Do you have any idea how many satrs there are let alone planets, chances oike that mean that it is almost ineviatble life will arise on some of them
(2) An inetrmediate life form is not a half formed creature but a fully functioning one which possesses features similar to the creature preceeding it and that following it, thus showing an evolutionary link (note this is simplified incredibly), there are plenty of these fossils just google it!
(3) If something doesn;t change then that means it is successful in its environment and does not need to change, evolutiuon will only occur were it improves the species chances of survival and reproduction. Read the science before you use this argument, all it shows is a lack of understanding.
(4) DNA is a protein which you said in point one could form by chance, and why it cant start simple (1 cell organisms) and become incresingly more complex with evolution is not specified.
(5) Yes they can, bats for example have eyes which are less developed than ours, gliding animals have less developed wings, an organ developed does not have to be perfect in its entiriety from the start, but can develop from a simpler form.

How has Darwinism hurt people?
It is a theory and so cannot be a scientific fraud since it is simply a model suppoorted by evidence not a truth?
Whats the alternative and what makes it right (according to science please not religion)?
And finally too many dilemmas, you've only got 5, whats all the space for Quran quotes (how scientific)?

In mathematical terms, this figure represents a probability of “zero.”

1) Evolution deals with biological change, not the origin of life: read Darwin's book. The origin of life is abiogenesis, not evolution.

2) The last part is simply false: 1 in 10^950, in mathematical terms, is simply not a probability of 0. In mathematical terms, not even 1 in 10^950,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 is a probability of 0. Someone really needs to retake a math course or two.

3) The probability of 1 in 10^950 is bogus. The method used to derive is was not given and it is most likely typical anti-science religious calculations.

1) The above uses a strawman - something that posts by ahmetsecer are full of. Intermediates are supposed to be "fully formed and complete life forms". Neither Darwin nor modern evolutionary biologists ever stated or implied otherwise.

2) Lots of fully legitimate intermediate fossils have been found. For example, just 2 years after Darwin first published his book "The Origin of Species" the first specimen of Archaeopteryx was discovered. It is intermdiate between reptiles and birds, possessing characteristics of both. For example, Archaeopteryx has features found in modern reptiles - such a long bony tail and teeth - was well as having features found in modern birds - such as feathers and a wishbone.

Living fossils are proofs that refute the theory of evolution’s claim of “gradual development” in a particularly striking way. There are living fossils belonging to a great many species, from ants to trees, and from bats to sharks. This represents definitive documentation that evolution never happened in natural history.

Another false claim. "Living fossils" are not identical to specimens from millions of years ago. Take Coelocanth: many people wrongly claim that this "living fossil" is identical to the Coelocanth's from millions of years ago, but that's simply not true. There are clear morphological differences.

Further, it is very rare for DNA to be preserved over millions of years, so there is usually no way to compare the genomes of a "living fossil" and it's "identical" ancestor that lived millions of years ago. Therefore, we cannot test to see whether or not evolution - which occurs at the genetic level - occurred. An organism whose external appearance looks essentially identical still could have undergone evolution: changes could have occurred in cell communication pathways, in metabolic pathways, and so on. So unless one has access to the complete DNA genomes of the "living fossil" and the ancestors from millions of years ago, one simply cannot state that no evolution occurred in the time span separating the two.

This unimaginable quantity of information is encoded in the parts of DNA known as “genes.” It is an absolute fact that DNA cannot form by chance.

Most, if not all, of the ~20,000 genes present in humans are present in other animals. Heck, we humans - composed of about 100 trillion cells, each with a nucleus and many other organelles - even share with bacteria - unicellular organisms, with no nucleus or other organelles - about 500 genes. And there is a general trend, as one moves up in organismal complexity, in the number of genes shared with humans increasing.

And we know of several methods of increasing genetic information. Gene duplications followed by divergence, leading to neofunctionalization, is one. Exon shuffling is another.

So humans didn't need to evolve their genomes from scratch: instead, we inherited the vast majority of our genes from our immediate ancestors, who inherited the vast majority of their genes from their ancestors, who inherited the vast majority of their genes from their ancestor, and so on, all the way down to bacteria. And, we know of mechanisms that could increase the genetic information in the genomes of these ancestors over geological time.

More misinformation.

1) The term "irreducible complexity" was coined by anti-evolutionist Michael Behe, in his book "Darwin's Black Box". Although Behe mentions eyes in that book, nowhere does he claim that eyes are irreducibly complex. And infact, several different statements made by Behe in his book clearly indicate that eyes are in fact NOT irreducibly complex.

2) An eye can work without a tear gland: thus the claim that it is part of an alleged irreducibly complex eye is simply false.

Eyes originated in organisms that lived in water: they did not need a tear gland. So eyes came first, and later, tear ducts were added.

Our retina is not anywhere near the lower limit of complexity needed for an "eye". For example, insects can see images, crudely, and they don't have a retina like ours: even seeing crude images is a selective advantage over not being able to see at all. Planarians (flatworms) cannot see images, but their simple eyespots (ocelli) can detect light and determine from what direction it is coming: a survival advantage compared to not being to do so.

And 'eyes' can function without a retina. Sponges are at the lower limit of animal complexity, and their ocelli (present in the larval stage) are about as simple as one can imagine. Yet they still allow the larvae to move in a direction determined by light. Going back to even simpler organisms, an archaea called Halobacterium halonium has a protein called bacteriorhodopsin (not used in vision specifically, but still dealing with response to stimuli coming from the external environment) that is highly similar to the protein rhodopsin used in our eyes: infact, H. halonium also has retinal associated with its protein, just as our eyes do: and in fact, H. halonium's protein responds to an incoming photon by an isomerization in retinal ... which happens in our eyes too.

Further, essentially every one of the main proteins used in human vision existed in simpler and "more primitive" organisms.

Quote:Prize For Evolution Compettition Increased To 100,000 YTL!

The Science Research Foundation is a cover name for a Creationist, anti-science organisation headed by Haran Yahya a.k.a. Adnan Oktar or Adnan Hoca. This man has been described by zoologist and respected author on evolutionary matters, Richard Dawkins as "a complete ignoramus."

His latest book is called, "The Atlas of Creation." The arguments used by the book to undermine evolution have been criticized as not logical while evolutionary biologist Kevin Padian has stated that Oktar has no understanding of the basic evidence for evolution.

Presumably the big money prize offered by Harad Yahya will be claimed by the contestant who displays the same ignorance and fanatical devotion to disinformation as he does.
