Questioning God's Love for the World
If God so loved the world, then why didn't he send himself to die on the cross instead of his son, Jesus?

Picture a dad and his son playing ball with each other. All of a sudden, a drunk driver is headed straight for the guys wife. The dad, without hesitation, throws his son into the direct path of the drunk driver, killing him instantly. The drunk driver swerves and misses the wife. What a lovely story, right? A true story of love?
Now, is sacrificing somebody other than yourself for somebody else more loving than actually sacrificing yourself? I think not.

What do you think?

I think you missed the point of the Father/Son sacrifice. You're not alone. Most Christians have as well being led spiritually and intellectually astray by Paul's rationally absurd vicarious sin atonement theology.

Based on your questions, it appears that you would not consider yourself to be familiar with the Christian doctrine the Trinity.

Oh I'm definitely familiar with the Trinity. It's completely insane, but I'm familiar with it.

Yes, the ant must feel the same way when presented with information about the elephant.

But I see now that your original post was not so much a real question, seeking real information or dialogue, but rather an opportunity for you to vent. Fair enough.
