Sects or denominations of Judaism
Perhaps the oldest records we have of a formal difference of opinion among Jews dates back to the time of the Maccabean revolt - (see any Catholic Bible)

Karaites and Rabbinical Judaism

During the 9th century C.E., a number of sects arose that denied the existence of oral Torah. These sects came to be known as Karaites (see any bible only Protestant)

Samaritan Pentateuch

On the return from the Exile, the Jews refused the Samaritans participation with them in the worship at Jerusalem, and the latter separated from all fellowship with them, and built a temple for themselves on Mount Gerizim.

Samaritan and the Jewish texts differ, the LXX (see Saint Jerome)
. agrees with the former. The New Testament also, when quoting from the Old Testament, agrees as a rule with the Samaritan text
