Seven Reasons to Read the Glorious Quran

Seven Reasons to Read the Glorious Quran
1) Intimate:

It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans can not write a book like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also from the spirits. The Quran said this fourteen hundreds years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written - but not another one like the Quran.

(2) Incorruptible:

It is the only religious sacred writing which has been in circulation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in the beginning. The Quran was kept intact. Nothing was added to it; nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it ever since it was completely revealed 1400 years ago.

(3) Unsurpassable:

The Quran is God's final revelation to humankind. God revealed the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Quran to Muhammad. Peace be upon all of them. No other book will come from God to surpass his final revelation.

(4) Indisputable:

The Quran withstands the test of time and scrutiny. No one can dispute the truth of this book. It speaks about past history and turns out right. It speaks about the future in prophecies and it turns out right. It mentions details of physical phenomena which were not known to people at the time; yet later scientific discoveries confirm that the Quran was right all along. Every other book needs to be revised to accord with modern knowledge. The Quran alone is never contradicted by a modern discovery.

(5) Your Roadmap for Life and Afterlife:

The Quran is the best guidebook on how to structure your life. No other book presents such a comprehensive system involving all aspects of human life and endeavor. The Quran also points out the way to secure everlasting happiness in the afterlife. It is your roadmap showing how to get to paradise.

(6) God's Gift of Guidance:

God has not left you alone. You were made for a reason. God tells you why he made you, what he demands from you, and what he has in store for you. If you operate a machine contrary to it's manufacture specification you will ruin that machine. What about you? Do you have an owner's manual for you? The Quran is from your function for success lest you fail to function. It is a healing mercy from God. It satisfies the soul, and cleans the heart. It removes doubts and brings peace.

(7) Your Calling Card to Communicate with God:

Humans are social creatures. We love to communicate with other intelligent life. The Quran tells us how to communicate with the source of all intelligence and the source of all life- the One God. The Quran tells us who God is, by what name we should address God, and the way in which to communicate with God. Are these not seven sufficient reasons for reading the Quran?

RE: Seven Reasons to Read the Glorious Quran
I've read it, I found it not to be incorruptible, unsurpassable (which isn't a word) or indisputable. In fact, in contradicts itself, and modern logic and science.

The Qur'an says that there are seven heavens one above the other [S.67:3, S. 71:15], and that the stars are in the lower heaven [67:5, 37:6, 41:12], and the moon is depicted as being in the higher heavens [S. 71:16], even though in reality the stars are much further away from the earth than the moon.

Or about food in Hell:
No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari S. 88:6
Nor hath he any food except the foul pus from the washing of wounds, S. 69:36
Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?
For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers.
For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire:
The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils:
Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.
Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water.
Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. S. 37:62-68

So which do they eat?

RE: Seven Reasons to Read the Glorious Quran
Nice catch, Clementine. There are many other scientific contradictions in the Quran.

So in order.

1. The Quran can be easily disproven from a scientific standpoint, and while it is not as contradictory as the Bible, there are contradictions. Further, the arguments of the Quran can be disproven from a purely logical standpoint, such as the idea of an all-knowing, all-powerful creator god who at the same time holds us accountable for the free will we cannot have if he is all-powerful.

2. There are many books of the Bible, each a holy book in its own right, that predate the Quran, often by thousands of years. The Torah as a complete canon also predates the Quran. And I may be wrong but I think a number of Hindu holy texts predate the Quran.

3. You make a bold statement that you cannot back up with a single shred of evidence. Indeed, referring to #1, it's clear the Quran was not delivered by a perfect god.

4. If you do a search of this forum you will find where I have tackled (and, in my opinion, rather handily obliterated) the supposed "scientific knowledge" of the Quran. This is quote mining at its most disingenuous. Much like Matthew did in the Bible, the Quran was combed over for any sura that could be remotely or metaphorically linked up to scientific discovery, regardless of that sura's original intent. To deliberately take quotes out of context is just another form of lying.

5. Actually there are many books that tell you how to find happiness and run your life. In general both the Bible and the Quran are relics of an older, different age, and more modern books on the subject I would think work better. Of course, a lot of that depends on the quality of the author, but to call the Quran the best is a highly dubious opinion (especially if you're a woman). As for the afterlife, the Quran's version of the afterlife directly contradicts every other version of the afterlife out there. I am not inclined to believe the Quran's version over some of the other versions, especially when some things about it simply don't make sense.

6. The Quran is many things, but it is certainly not a textbook on medicine. And although I fully acknowledge that fanaticism is a cyclical thing, and that most monotheistic religions have suffered violent fanatics at many times during their history (as well as a number of other religions and non-religious causes,) the current batch of crazy extremists in our world today are all Muslim. Clearly the Quran can easily be interpreted in ways that are not at all a "healing mercy". And call me crazy, but I think if some of those extremists had a little less peace and a little more doubt the world would be better off.

7. I guarantee you that you have never communicated with god. When I was younger I thought I did, but as an adult I recognize those experiences for what they were - gut feelings, emotional highs, etc. The tugs of conscience and premonitions you get are not god's voice. They're tugs of conscience and premonitions. Indeed, try praying for amputees to be healed and their limbs regenerated and you'll soon see how interested god is in talking to you.

You outline seven things which, if true, would make the Quran a remarkable book. Unfortunately for you, none of them, not a single one, are true. The Quran is remarkable for its historical significance, but it is not from any sort of god, nor is it infallible.

I'm back baby! Thanks for everyone who sent me PMs asking what had happened to me.

If an Imam can't address the contradictions I can list in the Qu'ran, which I've read, a website without valid, unbiased sources isn't convincing.

List some of these facts of modern science.

I've seen GT go through all of this a few times, but I always learn something new.
