RE: Last Days
Jesus preached about the Kingdom of God. He spoke of a time for judging the nations and peoples. He warned of a tribulation that would be greater than any that had yet occurred. And he gave signs to indicate when the end of the world as we know it would be.

The exact time of the coming end of this system of things has not been revealed to us, the sign that Jesus gave would let us know when we are in the time period known as the ‘last days.’ Jesus said: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another pestilences and food shortages; and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs.” – Luke 21:10,11.
He also said: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” – Matthew 24:14. The events that Jesus mentioned – wars, earthquakes, pestilences, food shortages would not be new. They have been happening since early human history. The difference would be that they would all occur in one time period.

Since the year 1914, there has been devastating world wars, great earthquakes, widespread deadly diseases, millions of people starving because of the lack of food, and the preaching of the good news of God’s Kingdom worldwide by Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Just wondering may are you prepared to defend this as the position that JW's believe?
I am really interested to know.

I guess he wants you to prove we're living in the last days?

RE: That men may know
Let's play Devil's Advocate!

Quote:devastating world wars
WWI, WWII. Though not large scale conflict, one might make the case for the cold war being a 'world war' in the sense it was a political and ideological power struggle. "Only the dead have seen the end of war." Arguably, it is only a matter of time before another world war breaks out.

Quote:great earthquakes
Recent Baja quake. The recent quake in Haiti. 1906 saw a massive earthquake in San Francisco if you aren't too picky about the year. That devastating tsunami of a few years ago was spawned by an earthquake.
It seems fair to include other natural disasters like volcanic eruptions, floods, and hurricanes.

Quote:widespread deadly diseases
HIV/AIDS. Ebola. Smallpox. Tuberculosis. Yellow fever. Cholera. Influenza (and its various strains).
Sure, many of these diseases no longer pose a serious threat to the developed world, but countries with poor sanitation or access to care still suffer from them.
HIV is incredibly widespread.

Africa.

Quote:preaching of the good news
JW were at my door last month.

RE: That men may know
karma you are having a lend aren't you.
So apparently we have had world wars since 1914, the biblical passage I think actually mentions more kingdoms at war, the crimean war actually had more kingdoms and countries at war than both world wars.
Earthquakes, they never happened before 1914 apparently

The number of people who have died from widespread deadly disease since 1914 would be a very small % of the people who have died from disease before that. We have developed medicine since 1914.

Millions more have died before 1914 than after from starvation. The world now provides relief, it aint perfect, but much better than before 1914

There was not a single Jehovahs Witness on the planet in 1914, so they were certainly not spreading any word. Unlike today when they spread BS.
Edit Should have read Napoleonic wars not Crimean sry
