RE: The Lord told “them” how to behave to get the Lod’s blessing, who were they?
@ jamesduncan---- the passage you're referring to is Deuteronomy 28: "...if you obey the Lord your God...." but if they Didn't then vs 16 - 44 would happen. Then vs 64 of that chapter "Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. And the passage continues to the end of the chapter.

Then chapter 30: "When all these blessings and curses ,,,,,, and you take them to heart.... and when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart.....then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you. through vs 10.

And that is all Old Testament. The Children of Israel are God's chosen people.

The nation of Israel became a nation in 1949 or 47. And I'm thinking that the Gaza Strip is the same place. The Middle East changes quickly.

All that you've typed out did take place.

The New Testament is the age of Grace -- Somewhere in the New Testament is says that because the Jews did not accept Jesus Christ as their Messiah that salvation would be extended to the Gentile world as well as the Jewish world.

At some point in the future -- Jesus Christ will take His people / the Church/ up to be with Him. It's called the rapture of the Church. And after That is when the time for the Jews will Again be.

Hope that at least some of this has been helpful.

Chosen for what purpose, to set an example -?

I believe there is a little more to the history of the Jews. For me it is which came first leaving the rest for last

(Deu 7:6 KJV) For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a
special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

(Deu 7:7 KJV) The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number
than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

(Deu 7:8 KJV) But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers,

hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

(Deu 7:9 KJV) Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy
with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

(Deu 7:11 KJV)Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

The question of the day, 2017ad is whether they have kept the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments

(Deu 7:12 KJV) Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the
LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:

(Deu 7:13 KJV) And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the
fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which
he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Ezek 36:17 KJV) Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their ..own way and
by their doings
: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
(Ezek 36:18 KJV) Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols
wherewith they had polluted it.
(Ezek 36:22 KJV) Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes,
O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.
(Ezek 36:24 KJV) For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
(Ezek 36:31 KJV) Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe
yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
(Ezek 36:32 KJV) Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you:
be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
Waving Goodbye
@ jamesduncan
God called Abraham to follow Him. As God's chosen people -- He gave them all those guidelines that - when followed - set them apart from the 'heathen' nations / people around them.
Children of Israel -- one of the 12 tribes was Judah
The Jewish people -- line of Judah -- David was in that line -- Jesus Christ came from that line. He came to save His people from their sins. There Are Jews who acknowledge Jesus Christ as their promised Immanuel / Messiah. They Are coming back to their homeland.
This time in history is called the time of the Gentiles -- age of grace. There will again be a time for the Jews -- 7 years that God will 'deal' with them. Then there will be the 1,000 yr reign of Jesus Christ on Earth.
It would appear that God had a variety of purposes? for the Children of Israel. Their Purpose? to be His special people -- set apart from the rest of the world. The Savior would come from His people. The Savior -- Jesus Christ the Lord.
Sooooo when Jesus returns as the Messiah (for Christians and, arguably, Muslims), the 'time for the Jews' be back in play. Does that mean the Jews will be standing by for *another* Messiah who meets the criteria decreed in the Torah- the first "Word of God"?
When someone asks "What would Jesus do?" remind them that flipping tables and chasing people with a whip is entirely possible.
Soooooooo the 'time for the Jews' -- strictly for the Jews -- there will be multitudes coming to Christ during those 7 years. The Jews were offered salvation 1st -- through Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah / Immanuel.
The two groups that Scripture talks about are the Jews and Gentiles. Gentiles being 'everyone else'. But Scripture refers to 'Gentile'.
Nope -- there is no 'another' Messiah / Immanuel.
In the Old Testament there were lots of 'man-made' 'gods'. A few of them are listed by name. God tells His people Not to spend time worshiping 'them'. Since they wanted to worship 'something' -- worship the God who created you / the One who rescued you from slavery in Egypt. God used Moses / Aaron to lead His people out of / away From Egypt.
God's word tells mankind of the Godhead // God the Father, Jesus Christ His son and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is the part of the Godhead who was born in Bethlehem. God/incarnate. Ya know -- the virgin birth -- Mary. The mother of Jesus. And after He had accomplished what He was in Earth For -- He ascended back up to heaven and is at the right-hand of God the Father.
