Exclamation The sun can become dark.
Acts 2 ; 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

There are other bibleverses referring to this.

This is what happened not long ago:

There is definetly a possiblity of the sun becoming completely dark.

One could question, is the end close?

Acts 2 ;
Acts 2:

17 “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[c]

Yes, and eclipse and a blood moon. It happens every so many years. Has been happening for many years, including the times in which is was said it would happen. Probably where the idea came from.

If everyone was thinking the same thing, then no one would be thinking at all.

RE: The sun can become dark.
Have you guys ever heard of the 1780 New England "Dark Day"?

There were tangible dark vapors, there was darkness even at noon such that no one could see anything.

Before the darkness set in, the Moon (and Sun also) appeared red, and the sky yellow.

Some people say it may have been caused by forest fire smoke, who knows. I think it's interesting that you can have both the Sun become dark and the Moon turn red in a very short time. I don't think you can have lunar and solar eclipses that close to each other though.

No, but getting a red moon near a solar eclipse is very possible. With pollution in the sky, I think it is even more possible now a days. I might be wrong though, I do not have the information needed to really make the claim.

RE: The sun can become dark.
You're right, eventually the sun will become dark. Though I have no empirical basis for the assertion, I highly doubt that the human race will be particularly concerned by such an eventuality, the human race and most likely the majority of other extant species being extinct by then.
