Were Paul here today: Treasure my 'gold, silver, and precious stones,' but not ...
“We are making a fetish of Paul's theology, exactly as the Jews did of the Mosaic law. Neither the one nor the other said: what is true to me must be true to all men and eternally true in the form in which I have framed it. … Even a Paul could not escape from the limitations of his place and time. No blame to him if the wisdom of his genera¬tion is at times the folly of ours, but he would be the first to blame us for that idolatry of his letter which quenches the quickening spirit that in nineteen hundred years has realized for us much that he only hoped for … I am sure that were Paul here today he would be the first to tell us: Do not exalt my theology of nineteen hundred years ago into a fetish. Remember my own rule: Prove all things-even the Bible's-hold fast that which is good.' Retain all that is of permanent value in my teaching, discard its perishable and local elements. Treasure my 'gold, silver, and precious stones,' but do not garner my, wood, hay, and stubble.' Hold fast to the principles and substance of my teaching, adapt its form and letter to the needs and convictions of your day."

Rev. J. R Cohu warns us ("Should Women Speak in Church?" Contemporary Review, Oct., 1916, pp. 479-80).

We should be open to all sorts of new ideas, regardless of the source!

So, Ahmadi, can women be clerics and Imams in your Islamic sect?

Muslim women in Ahmadiyya Muslim Community do speak and address others in the mosques.

We hold separate religious gatherings so that individuals can focus on their Creator rather than be distracted by the charms of the opposite gather. And yes women have their own organizations and their own leadership.

But can we consider this thread as not yet another opportunity to bash Islam but follow the theme as suggested in the quote of the first post, to make our minds more fertile!

Many Christian women hold gatherings, meetings to discuss the Bible be in in ther homes or outside Church meetings.

Many women held positions of leadership in the Bible, specifically Miriam, Deborah, and Huldah in the Old Testament. In Acts 18, Priscilla and Aquila are presented as faithful ministers for Christ.

Priscilla is nowhere described as participating in a ministry activity that is in contradiction to 1 Timothy 2:11-14. Priscilla and Aquila brought Apollos into their home and they both discipled him, explaining the Word of God to him more accurately Acts 18:26.

Ahmadi, you started this thread with a reference to a century-old work entitled, "Should Women Speak in Church?" (Contemporary Review, Oct., 1916).

Why would you think that my question to you was "bashing Islam"?
