Would some one please tell me!
What Rules in Islam are there not present in Judaism and Christianity?
I'm a Researcher studying World Religion's and would like a detailed Description of What a Muslim is and what they must do.

I'm a young Christian and I'm interested in your faith,
So please tell me about yourselves in your own words. Your life styles, rules, laws, the way you worship God and etc.

Does the Muslim Holy book say to kill non-Muslims?
Does it say that you can Kill?
Does it say you must only follow the teachings in it?
Does it allow you to read and understand the Torah?

Please Answer truthfully and without deceit!

RE: Would some one please tell me!
Hi Azrael.

Just before I trained to be a Religious Studies teacher I did a 10,000 word dissertation on the Pillars of Islam, which would answer some of your questions. It was marked by an Imam too. Do you want a copy?

To briefly answer the questions you ask (remember I'm not a Muslim though, so my apologies if you only wanted Muslims to answer)

The Qur'an says that retaliation against those who attack Islam is fine. It says that Jews and Christians should be allowed to worship as they wish, as they are 'People of the Book' and worship the same God.
Yes.
The Qur'an is the unchanged word of God, so the answer to your third question would be yes.
Other Holy books are respected, but they are believed to have been corrupted over time. ONly the Qur'an has remained unchanged since the time of Muhammed. I'll explain this more if you want.

Hope that helps. If you want a copy of that essay, just drop me a pm. In fact, if anyone wants a copy just pm; it'd be nice to do something with it!

RE: Would some one please tell me!
the following verse (Maide -32) touches one of the points u discussed above;

"Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that, if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind; and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. And indeed, there came to them Our Messengers with clear proofs, evidences, and signs, even then after that many of them continued to exceed the limits (e.g. by doing oppression unjustly and exceeding beyond the limits set by Allah by committing the major sins) in the land!. "
....

Does Quran states we can kill??
The God-the Almighty- orders to help and protect the humans by all legitimate manners. In return for this; he offers his pleasure as well as salvation and endless blessing.
how can we help to the others then? Should we lend a hand to everyone doing whatever?? of course not. There are some whose heart is full of mercy to everyone ..besides there are serial murderers in this world. Islam "not only allows- but also orders" to defuse those type of persons. Please notice I said "to defuse" ;not "to kill". Killing exists as a way of punishment in Islam. On the other hand it is not an objective ;but just a last remedy to avoid others from suffering.
At this point; please also notice that; deciding on who is innocent-who is guilty; who is a hero- who is a criminal is totally dependent on your conscious. Islam calls to your conscious; not to the courts, not to the judges ,whatever else. So in all cases -specifically about this one- you need to call your conscious to learn whether what u do is right or wrong..And the God holds you responsible for what u do by this way. I hope I was able to convey what I meant properly..If not please tell
So apparently, there is a struggle we have been assigned and have to carry out. This struggle is the most challenging, the most ruthless and treacherous. It is against ourselves; thats to say against our EGO, our self. To undertake this war; the first thing we need to do is to clarify our hearts.Yes Thats of great importance. Initially we need to clean our hearts from frivolous ambitions. And we would regard all of the humans as subjects of the God and lay all of our actions on this understanding. All these can only be accomplished by a real cognition of the God the Almighty, together with his affection and his piety that can only be provided by himself. (and which we should pray to obtain)
for the last questions;

Islam regards Quran as the main reference to shape our life. Thus naturally it is the main source we need to apply all the time. But it -in no way- forbids Muslims to read another source. Indeed, Quran must be considered as a main criterion for the validity of our sources as well. Torah is also stated in Quran as one of the four holy books so; even if it has been distorted to some extent- it is allowed to be investigated

That was helpful do you know where I can find a Quran that is in English.
Both in text and language. I come from the U.S. and our libraries have little to no reference to Islam and most of which it has was written by the Catholic Church during the Dark ages. Most of the books that are in English and talk about Islam have only negative points of view.

I do not intend to become Muslim, but I would like to Memorize the Quran in English. So when a person points to an Arab and says "Look that person is a terrorist." I will be able to defend them in my own words.
Because Not all Middle Easterners are Terrorist,
but the people in the U.S. are being controlled by the media by the power of Capitalism.
It has come time for people to think for themselves and seek things out for themselves. The U.S. needs peaceful reformation and reconstitution.
If you disagree with that then read the U.S. Declaration of Independence before closing your mind. I'm a Socialist who is Monotheist and Spiritually Religous. I am not perfect and no one else but God is.
God gave people Science we did not Invent it of our own accord.
"Woe to the foolish who seek pain,
What the lord gives, can also be taken away!
Fear not wise men for you shall be rewarded when the Judgement day comes."
and I say unto you,
"There is a Ending but it comes at the Beginning. The past can't be changed, the present is ever changing, and the future is not set in stone."
We as humans have time to avoid our own destruction,
the question is will we take the time to heal our selves or lead to our own mutilation!

RE: Would some one please tell me!
Are Women and Men Equal According to the Quran?

I am not asking should husband and wife respect each other I am asking does the Quran make one Sex out to be Dominant over the other!

I think a wife should respect her husband and a husband should respect his wife.

Was Adam dominant over Eve?

Islam also thinks a husband and a wife should respect one another. Unless she disobeys too often, then you can hit her with a stick, as long as it's not too thick.

Sura 9: Ultimatum (Bara'ah)
5. Once the Sacred Months are past,(and they refuse to make peace) you may kill the idol worshipers when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make.If they repent and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat), you shall let them go. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful
.
30. The Jews said, "Ezra is the son of GOD," while the Christians said, "Jesus is the son of GOD!" These are blasphemies uttered by their mouths. They thus match the blasphemies of those who have disbelieved in the past. GOD condemns them. They have surely deviated.
================================================================
THE ROOTS OF JUST WAR DOCTRINE

In the Beatitudes, Jesus tells us "blessed are the peacemakers" (Matt. 5:9). Elsewhere in the Sermon on the Mount he tells us "if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also" (Matt. 5:39). From such verses some have concluded that Christianity is a pacifist religion and that violence is never permitted.

But the same Jesus elsewhere acknowledges the legitimate use of force, telling the apostles, "let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one" (Luke 22:36). How are these passages to be reconciled?

In broad terms, Christians must not love violence. They must promote peace whenever possible and be slow to resort to the use of arms. But they must not be afraid to do so when it is called for. Evil must not be allowed to remain unchecked.
