RE: athiests should work on Christmas
They have these days off because, in the United States, these days are generally considered holidays and millions of business are closed across the board. It's against the law in the US to discriminate against race, creed, sex, religious affiliation or lack of affiliation.

You're a troll, Smellycat. Stop posting garbage like this.

There was nothing funny about that post. Stop discriminating. Stop trying to hide behind your lousy sense of humor.

I don't want to know anything from you.

I would just like for you to make intelligent remarks instead of trolling flamers.

RE: athiests should work on Christmas
What about Jews? They killed Jesus...should they work on Christmas and Easter too? How about Mormons? Most Christians don't even consider them Christian. Muslims? Hindus? Buddhists? Scientologists? If they have to work on these holidays, should the government recognize their respective holy days as national holidays as well, so as not to discriminate? Would you then work on their holidays?

Like it or not, business is an integral part of society. Acknowledging every significant date for every religion, and granting them national holiday status, is not feasible to businesses. Since America (at least) is predominantly Christian, the government has chosen to recognize the dates significant to that faith.

Furthermore, my job requires me to call businesses. All of the business I would call during work are closed for Christmas, which makes me working on that day pointless, regardless of my beliefs. Additionally, I do not need a religious significance to enjoy time with family and friends. The national holidays, both religious and secular, provide a good time for people that do not normally see each other to get together.

If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people?
