I believe that we are very tiny things, living in a tiny section of something extremely huge (possibly infinitely huge), capable of seeing only a tiny portion of it, and of understanding a tiny portion of that. For that reason, I believe that it's currently impossible for us to know anything objectively about the nature of the Universe, and the best that we can do is choose an assumption that makes sense to us. It's possible that one of those assumptions is broadly right, of course, but there's no way we can know that objectively now without the direct involvement of a higher intelligence telling us - something I have no reason to believe in.

I took Chris' comment to be implying that I'm stupid and exceeding my intellectual capacity, to be honest, but I thought I'd give him a chance to confirm that before responding.
If Chris called me stupid, which he might have done, I would take that as a good thing as well, considering.
