Religion means peace or fight..!!!
We are neither race nor relatives, nor any community. Neither are we inert. We are only souls, servants of “Krishna”(God).
Religions are meant for peace.Though why do we fight in the name of religions ? opinions are invited on this issue...... jagdish tytler |

Glad to see you back again. ![]() It seems to me that much of the problem lies in the notion that some particular religion is the one true faith authorized by God. This leads to the desire to push this faith on others. It also leads to the thought that anyone who does not follow this 'God-given' faith is inferior and not worthy of the respect due to 'real' human beings. Mix in several such religions, including the inevitable factions within each, and a sense of urgency arises to increase the power and domain of one's own religion before another one grabs what is properly yours. This situation is amplified and compounded by the frequent identification of religion with culture. 'They' are not just trying to destroy our religion but our culture as well. My opinion anyway... |

RE: Religion means peace or fight..!!!
I'd agree with that, Parousia. I've always liked the idea that all religions are paths to God, and people choose which one they want, but they are all inevitably right as long as they lead you towards God.
This is partly the appeal to me about Hinduism, in that as far as I'm aware you don't tend to get evangelical Hindus, and they are happy with accepting Jesus, etc, into their pantheon. Missionaries had this problem, in that Hindus would put the crucifix right next to their murti of Ganesh. It's a shame so many people are convinced only their beliefs are right. RE: Religion means peace or fight..!!!
Swastika was one of the symbols most commonly used by early Christians, as well as the fish. This was before the more obvious cross, and probably to hide it a bit, as it was a common Greek / Roman symbol. There are lots carved on 1st & 2nd century tombs in Rome.

RE: Religion means peace or fight..!!!
People who start wars use religion as a tool of manipulation because:
1. It is usually widespread over a vast variety of people. 2. A message from "one's God" must be obeyed. 3. Religion often requires scriptural interpretation and there are thousands of ways it scripture can be interpreted. Hear the other side ~ St. Augustine
