What religion should I choose?

RE: What religion should I choose?
Religion has been defined as “the expression of man’s belief in and reverence for a superhuman power recognized as the creator and governor of the universe.” Who then has the right to determine the difference between true religion and false religion? It must be the Creator. Jehovah has outlined in his word his position on true religion and false.
James 1:26,27 – “if any man seems to himself to be a formal worshiper and yet does not bridle his tongue, but goes on deceiving his own heart, this man’s form of worship is futile. The form of worship that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world.” James shows that a person might seem to himself to be truly religious and yet his form of worship could be futile. James mentioned to “keep oneself without spot from the world.” Jesus said: “My kingdom is no part of this world.” Therefore, his followers should be no part of this world. The clergy and priests endorse the United Nations. True Christians must remain neutral in political affairs.
True religion must also direct worship to the only true God, Jehovah.
Pure religion must be based on the revealed will of the one true God and not on man made traditions or philosophies. Beliefs should be based out of the Bible, God’s word. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 – “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight… that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.”

RE: What religion should I choose?
Religion etymologically means to tie, to bind.
As such religion means to bring together, as a peoples and towards God.

As opposed to arguably, “the expression of man’s belief in and reverence for a superhuman power recognized as the creator and governor of the universe.”

True religion is problematic, it is akin to saying there is only one enjoyment of a piece of music, one use of milk, one way to enjoy breathing....

With this in mind, I would argue the one true religious concept is largely the product of large egos.

To wit, I think most human arguments (especially the one above) can be summed up thusly:

" I have the biggest stick
This means that anythign you say is invalid
I have the biggest stick"

....

“Take a pitcher full of water and set it down in the water- now it has
water inside and water outside. We musn’t give it a name, lest silly
people start talking again about the body and the soul.”

–Kabir

………….

A disciple once asked a rabbi:

“Why is the stork called hasidah [which is also the Hebrew word for ‘devout]?”

The rabbi replied:”Because it often feeds its brood and worries about it with great devotion.”

“Then why is its meat not considered kosher?” retorted the disciple.

“Because it worries solely about its own!” answered the rabbi.

–Martin Burber

It is I who am you, it is you who are me. wherever you are,I am there. I am sown in all; you collect me from wherever you wish. And when you collect me, it is your own self that you collect.

RE: What religion should I choose?
That explains who defined religion as “the expression of man’s belief in and reverence for a superhuman power recognized as the creator and governor of the universe.” I DON'T THINK.
But whatever you do don't let the facts get in the way of your story.......lol.

RE: What religion should I choose?
Then what is your definition of religion?

During the thousands of years of human history, man’s attempts to satisfy his spiritual need have led him down many pathways. The result is the enormous diversity of religious views found worldwide. For example, though nearly all religions promote a belief in a higher power, they have different concepts of who or what that is. Most faiths also stress the importance of salvation or liberation. But their teachings differ as to what salvation is and how it is attained. The question many people want an answer to is: how can we identify true teachings that please God?

Still no answer to the question posed

I know you won't answer, basically because it is not in the verses you parrott.

So another for you, in 2 parts.
Part 1:The question many people want an answer to is: how can we identify true teachings that please God?

Now this is the tough part of the question
Part2: Answer the above without referance to teachings that self proclaim their truthfulness.
After all a book that states it's own infallabillity really can't be trusted by anyone. Can it?
For instance if Dan Brown had written in his The Davinci Code that it was the WORD OF GOD would you believe it?
You're right of course you wouldn't, neither would I.
Any book that proclaims it's own divinity simply can't be believed.
